2023 Bragb PRISM Gold WinnerThe new Residences at 566 Columbus Ave aim to set a new standard for luxury living in downtown Boston. Sleek finishes and modern design features highlight the 66 new luxury condominiums, featuring top-of-the-line amenities such as an outdoor fitness center, rooftop lounge with gas fireplace, touchless elevators, and garage spaces with electric car charging stations. When award-winning real estate broker (and long-time friend of TSP) Ricardo Rodriguez brought this project to us, we knew we had an opportunity to replicate our award-winning multi-unit residential success achieved at Austurhofn in Reykjavik, Iceland.

A model unit for inspiration

Smart technology is something that has to be experienced to understand its benefit fully. To convince potential buyers that smart home technology would improve their home lives and enhance their comfort at home, we needed to find a way to let them experience this technology firsthand.

Working with Ricardo Rodriguez, we outfitted a model unit at 566 Columbus with a full array of smart home technology for potential buyers to try before purchasing. This model unit was outfitted with custom motorized window treatments from Lutron, a Frame television from Samsung paired with a Sonos soundbar, Lutron RA3 for lighting control, an Ecobee smart thermostat, and Josh.ai voice control.

Custom kiosk

In the model unit, we also installed a kiosk custom-designed by our marketing director Kjerstin Oh. A Meraki firewall and hotspot powered this kiosk, providing the model unit with a high-speed and robust wireless network. The kiosk includes functional design-driven keypads from Lutron and a Josh.ai voice control unit, allowing potential buyers to adjust lighting, open shades, and more.

A brochure of possibilities

Finally, we designed a brochure custom to the lifestyles of potential buyers at 566 Columbus that highlights the offerings available to them upon purchasing a unit. It features high-resolution images and pricing options for many home technology offerings, from window treatments and lighting to AV and security. The brochure was available at the kiosk for potential buyers and included in a welcome packet when the new homeowners moved into their unit.

Collaboration at the heart of success

The project at 566 Columbus Ave has been a huge success. New owners have taken advantage of the offerings, and we’ve installed a wide range of technology in their new homes. A true sign of success proving the value of home technology was the model unit itself selling, partly due to the robust smart home technology already installed in the unit, according to the buyer.

This project in particular was about more than the technology available to the tenants in this building. It’s about the collaborative effort through every step of this project, working hand-in-hand with the team at Ricardo Rodriquez & Associates to ensure solutions offered met the design narrative and lifestyle needs of the prospective homeowners at 566 Columbus. From the smart home brochures available to both tenants and prospective buyers to the model unit outfitted with home technology to serve as inspiration, collaboration was at the heart of this project.Interested in bringing smart home technology to your luxury residences?
