TSP Smart Spaces (“TSP”) is seeking a full-time Home Automation Technician to assist in smart home and AV installations in our client’s businesses and homes in and around the Boston and New England area.

Responsibilities

As a Home Automation Technician, you will assist Lead Technicians and Project Managers, or work independently, to complete installation of distributed audio systems, AV equipment, smart home control, and shading and lighting systems in residential and commercial environments in and around Boston.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in the home automation field preferred
  • Experience with Lutron and either Savant, Control4, or Crestron control systems preferred
  • On-site, full AV installation experience
  • Interest in the new generation of smart home systems, including configuration of software or cloud-based services
  • Proficiency installing AV and technology-related equipment, including AV racks at client sites
  • Experience with pre-wiring for audio and video
  • Proficiency with HDMI, CAT5, CAT6, and Speaker Wire Termination and Management
  • Experience with troubleshooting AV systems
  • Proficiency with reading plans and executing based on drawings
  • Proficiency with both Mac and PC operating systems
  • Proficiency troubleshooting basic computer issues
  • Knowledge of networking basics
  • Experience setting up router and WiFi systems
  • Experience using power tools
  • Experience working on active construction sites
  • Flexible with occasional travel
  • A great attitude and the ability to work independently and as a team player

Responsibilities

As an Estimator, you will utilize your strong writing skills to assist our Project Managers, Home Automation Technicians, and IT Engineers by creating proposals, specifications, and estimates for presentation to clients. 

Job Duties

The job duties of the Estimator include but are not limited to:

  • Creating proposals from onsite assessments
  • Analyzing labor, material, and time requirements for a project
  • Coordinating with technicians and vendors on purchasing and procurement of technology items
  • Ensuring all inventory is ordered and organized for technicians to implement/install on-site

Minimum Qualifications

  • Background in estimating or proposal writing
  • Background in purchasing or procurement on an organizational level
  • Interest in IT systems and smart home technology
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Able to decipher blueprints, spec sheets, floor plans, and other related documents
  • Strong interpersonal skills to understand and manage customer expectations and needs
  • Willing to contribute to team projects with related tasks and responsibilities
  • Able to work professionally in an office environment
  • Friendly and helpful demeanor when interacting with clients or team members
  • Flexible with occasional travel

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in the home automation or construction field
  • Prior experience with D-Tools
  • AV and networking knowledge
  • Project management software experience (TeamWork, Monday, Asana, Trello)
  • Prior experience with inventory management
